The Unextinguishable Dream of African Masters

Oct. 4, 2005 - Oct. 16, 2005

In Africa the long journey from cradle to grave is marked by rituals which record the stages of the life cycle. Jewellery has always been a witness to these rituals and nowhere is this visual language more rich than in Africa. The aim of this exhibition is to bring to light the motives and examples of these cultural traditions of transforming the wearer into a magnificent “living artwork.”
