[ Necklaces ]
Every inch of the human anatomy is eager to be adorned. However, few areas of the body receive as much attention as the neck. The lavish attention given to adorn the neck stems from the need for spiritual protection and beautification. In addition, chests of men and women prominently display signs of economic and social power for all to see. The world of necklace is full of age-old wisdom and secret powers. The earliest pendants were made from by-products of the hunt: seeds, shells, bones and tusks. The most ancient type of metal necklace is the rigid torque, still widely worn in India. The fibulae were already known in Roman times, but archaeological evidence dates their use even earlier. Fibulae are the most characteristic ornament from North Africa and they are worn in pairs, left and right below the shoulders. For the mountain people in the Golden Triangle of southeast Asia, silver protects the soul and prevents illness. A silver necklace is given to a newborn baby several days after its birth and it must always stay on the body.
